PM: Those Who Destroy Democracy in Cambodia Will Not Be Tolerated

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen called for everyone to participate in the election. At the same time, he sent out a warning to those who intend to destroy democracy in Cambodia.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the meeting to review the work of the government of the sixth mandate on the afternoon of June 19, the PM said that he will not tolerate those who intend to destroy democracy in Cambodia, referring to opposition calls for people to boycott voting following the Candlelight Party’s ban from the election.

"Now we want to know where the [instigators] are that incited the boycott of the election," he said.

He also instructed the Minister of Interior, DPM Sar Kheng, and the Minister of Justice, Keut Rith, to defend the amendment of the election law tomorrow, which will prevent anyone who does not vote in this election from running for office in future elections.
